Answer
When setting up communication between a Plotter and your computer with a USB cable many plotters have an internal USB / Serial card. Most of these plotters will communicate readily with a PC as long as the correct drivers (Supplied by your plotter dealer) are installed.
There are several different manufacturers of these internal cards and it is important that you use the correct one. This is why we recommend you check with your dealer for the correct drivers for your model plotter.
For refference we have included links to a caouple of the most popular USB/Serial Card manufacturers.
FTDI - is one of the most stable cards and is used on some models manufactured by Seiki, Refine, Bridge, Pcut, US Cutters Laser, and many others, you may find and intall these drivers on the FTDI Website http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm Please be sure download and install the appropriate drivers for your OS.
Another USB Serial chip manufacturer used by some import companies is Prolific you may find a limited number of drivers at this link http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31
If you can not find the appropriate drivers for your machine either from the dealer or the plotter manufacturers website you might try a third party adapter. We reccomend the Keyspan adapter available here http://www.tripplite.com/EN/products/model.cfm?txtSeriesID=518&EID=13385&txtModelID=3914
